E-Buses: On the Road to Lowering Emissions and Improving Public Transport

The electrification of a city’s bus fleet allows them to actively fight against the harmful consequences of greenhouse gas emissions (GHG). To support e-bus adoption, ITDP has partnered with the Transformative Urban Mobility Initiative (TUMI) E-Bus Mission since 2021 to provide support to 5 major cities: Jakarta, Indonesia; Kampala, Uganda; Monterrey, Mexico; Pune, India; and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Given how new this technology is to operators and cities, as well as how, because of that, e-bus public transport systems are effectively a new form of public transport, sharing and exchanging information on this work is vital to ensure others can seize upon this solution for their own cities.
